For the moneyHome Star Knob Hill Collection File Cabinet this is a VERY nice solid wood, two-drawer file cabinet. My only reservations are that the directions for assembly are not the greatest;it was not apparent that something needed to be done early on, necessitating taking it apart and starting over.Other than that assembly was easy even for an 83 year old woman. My other complaint was that this particular cabinet had broken wheel glides on the upper drawer which I didn't notice until I tried to install the top drawer.However, Amazon has already shipped me a replacement.I would buy it again. In honesty, I think most men could figure out the assembly even without the dismal direction sheet.

I wanted an affordable workbench that could be assembled, (I didn't have time to build one myself.)This one comes with 2 shallow drawers.It's easy to assemble and sturdy.Mostly, it fits together with the help of a rubber mallet.

Cons:

It comes packed well, but not well enough as a corner of the wood top was dinged during shipping.

All the wood needs to be sealed if you are using it in a damp environment.

The pegboard needed bolts that were not included yet indicated in the instructions.

To secure the main work surface you have toget under the tabletop and mark the screwholes with a pencil, pre-drill, and screw with your own screws!Why not just pre-drill and give the customer some screws.Would that kill them?

A company like Ikea would never allow an incomplete product like this out the door.It betrays a certain indifference to the customer.

Quad Width Wall Media Storage Unit-oak Finish Review

First of all, this is your typical fiberboard product with a flimsy cardboard backing. That said, I am very happy with this purchase. The visible areas of the tower are finished nicely and do not look cheap. I have over 600 movies and they fit just fine with a little room to spare for odd shaped media. The directions are okay but could use some more detail. Assembly took about two hours but I was going slow and took a couple beer breaks. The worst part of this assembly was trying to attach the backing without punching a nail through the finish...I failed. They supply a cover-up marker for damage to the finish so the end result looked pretty good in spite of my wayward hammer. I just needed a place to store my dvd`s. This tower fits great in my basement since it only sticks out about nine inches from the wall.

I bought this DVD shelf based on the photos.It looked beautiful.The description used words like oak.I assumed it was mostly wood.Unfortunately, the shelf is made with particle board and the back is three separate pieces of cardboard painted black.My friend says that is what I should have expected based on the price, but I was looking for a shelf that would last, not one I had to put together myself with little wood nails.I am keeping it because I still need it, I just wish I had been told it is glorified cardboard.

I bought my first bag valet about 3-4 years ago and I'm still using it with no problems. I love it. Several friends and family member have seen mine and have also bought one. They all love theirs and are very happy with it. I reuse all the plastic bags I bring home from the grocery store.I store them in the slot for the bags. At first I thought no way was it going to hold all my bags but you can get alot in the space. The only thing I can think of that some may not like is that you do have to use the screws to attach it. The weight on any amount of trash will pull it down. I plan on buying another to use for recycling. I can't say enough good things.

ArtBin Super Satchel Divided Review

I love this product.It is the best tote for scrapbook paper that I have been able to find. I have had an ArtBin box in this style for at least the last 3yrs.I loved it so much that I really spent hours looking for more.

The handle is great for carrying paper to crops.

The latches on this box are very easy to open, but very sturdy for closing.

The plastic is that nice hard bendy kind.Flexes enought to keep from cracking, but is strong enough not to change shape.I have 3 boxes. I use two for paper and one for embelishments.They stack great.

The deviders are great for sorting diffrent color of paper.

I highly recomend this product.

Corner Bar Unit - Honey Maple Review

I weighed the pro and con reviews on Target.com heavily before purchasing this item. I'm pretty happy with it, but there's definitely room for improvement. First of all, the color is much darker than the picture lets on. I got the "Honey Oak" finish, which looked like a light maple in the picture, but it's actually a rich amber color; so I'd imagine the "Mahogany" is much darker, too.

Secondly, the unit is very challenging to put together. I would definitely recommend having a second or even third person around to help, especially is you don't have much experience with flat-pack furniture. The instructions are not very clear, and becomes more awkward to handle as you build.

Another recommendation: Go through the entire package to make sure you have all the pieces you need. Be careful because they throw in a little baggie full of glue that is potentially very messy!!! Also, be sure to have some extra hardware on hand. I had to substitute some of my own screws because the pilot holes they had drilled were too big. So, long story short (too late), this is a nice, if over-priced, item if you're willing take on a flat-pack challenge. This is definitely weekend project - DO NOT attempt to build this thing on a work night. Beer helps, too, but no more than 2 ;-)

the case is really nice; looks just like the picture, good strong wood top, bottom and sides (thin backing).I have 40" TV on top of it, looks great.I had to put it together which wasn't a difficult job, but it was packed in what I guess was old foam because each time a took a piece out of the box, the foam scrumbled into little beads.My floor looked like snow when I finished - what a mess.But a really nice piece of furniture for the price.

CD DVD Solid Oak Mission Cabinet Review

We were excited when this first arrived because it's real wood and looks great. But a week or so after loading it up with CD's the reality sank in--this cabinet is under-built. The weight of the CD's has caused the doors to sag so much that the front gap is 1/8" at the top and 5/8" at the bottom and the doors now drag on the base when opening. Removing all the CDs and tightening the screws did not help. I'm probably going to have to install full-length hinges to fix this inadequate design. Considering the cost, this is a terrible buy.

Prepac Monterey White 2-Door Armoire Review

Right now I am very frustrated because a side piece of the drawer is cracked and I am missing 2 special screws and I have spent the last 3 hours putting it together. All I have left are the drawers. Anyway Amazon said they can send me another armoire and I can take out the pieces I need and then send the armoire back. Ugh. I told them no thanks. That just seems like such a hassle when I'm already tired of dealing with it.. lol... plus I live in a SMALL apartment and don't want the box sitting around waiting for delivery and I can't move around and I live in NYC on a 5th floor walk up and carrying the boxes up the stairs the first time was enough. I don't want to do it again I'd rather have no drawers and put a little curtain up. Anyway, hopefully when I call the Prepac company tomorrow they will be my angels and just send me a replacement drawer piece. I will update the review when I find out.

SEI Media Storage Ottoman Review

This ottoman is on par with a comparable ottoman from IKEA, though I feel this one is the better deal.The larger parts are very solid and durable, and extremely easy to put together (about one hour tops, if that).The packaging of the smaller parts such as the screws and whatnot, were not only in individual little ziplock baggies but labeled for easy finding.Easy directions as well!

The compartments--one opening up top and the other a lower drawer--are surprisingly deep and fit many coffee table books and even a few board games, with room to spare.Also, the top cushion is very firm to the point that I feel comfortable putting things there without worrying they'd roll off or fall over.

Definitely a good deal, well worth the price.

Winsome Wood Foldable Wine Rack, Walnut Review

For its price (purchased before its recent 37% price increase), this wine rack was a satisfactory purchase. What I was most disappointed with was that the rack was designed for a bottle body length of eight inches or less. Since most wine bottles are larger than eight inches, they will not snugly sit in their slot and will therefore be slightly angled from horizontal. Also, since the rack is only 11.5 inches deep, I'm hoping that stability on a carpet will not be a problem.

The rack is easy to assemble. I had to use a hammer to pound in the six dowels (there is not sufficient spacing to use a rubber mallet). Finally, I noticed that there were several small scratches that showed the underlying wood.

Mounted Lid Caddy or Plastic Bag Recycler Review

We bought this for diaper changes as we didn't want to keep a diaper pail in our nursery and instead place the dirty diaper and wipes in this (lined with a plastic grocery bag) and then once the diaper change is done we toss the bag into a garbage pail outside of the nursery. We mounted it on the side of the changing table. It's the best secret to not spending a ton of money on fancy diaper pails. We also got more floor space in the nursery as we don't need a diaper pail anymore. After a week or so doing this I love it and don't want to go back to having a smelly diaper pail in the nursery!

Double Cappuccino Finish Shoe Cabinet Review

I was looking forward to this item.It was the only one I could find in the cappucino-ish finish, so I really expected it to be nice.The picture made it look like the handles were metal.They aren't, they are plastic.Overall I would say it looks ok.Not great, but not terrible either.The nightmare was in putting this thing together.I've put together a lot of furniture in my time and I thought it couldn't be as bad as Ikea, but I will take Ikea any day over this.The instructions are out of order.Step 3-6, 1-2.Either way, the steps are sort of a joke as one of the first things you do is attach the handle and then you cant attach all the other pieces on the door.I spent more time unassembling than I did actually assembling.Secondly, you need to put the tiniest screws into the tiniest holes with no way to hold them when you are screwing.If you have hands beyond a childs-size, it will be hard for you.(I have a ring size of a 4, just to give you perspective.And I struggled with it.)You need at least 2 different screw drivers to assemble.I also had to find various things around the house to prop things so I could screw, insert, whatever, while holding it several inches off the floor (imagine attaching the pivot point of the door to the frame when it has nothing to rest on).All in all I would say putting this thing together was a nightmare.

If I had to do it again, I'd never buy the thing, honestly.Now that it is assembled, it works (though if you put shoes in the back row it doesn't really close easily) and it solves my shoe clutter.But had I known what I know now, I'd have purchased something else.

Orchard Hills 2-Door Library Bookcase - Carolina Oak Review

The Sauder bookcases are beautiful if you are okay with pressboard furniture. The only problem was with the shipping. One bookcase in the first shipment had the long parts totally broken in half. We asked for a replacement and it arrived with a damaged door. Amazon customer service was terrific, but couldn't replace it again. Since it was one of a set, we went to the Sauder website to see if we could order a replacement piece. Turns out that they will replace some parts free. It does take several hours to put them together, but the instructions are really clear and the Sauder website offers online help if you have a problem. They look great and if they last as long as some of our other Sauder pieces, we'll be happy.

I purchased this piece of furniture because we needed something functional but decent looking for our house. After it arrived, it was apparent this is not quite what I had in mind.

I'll be honest that I'm not that great at putting things together. I can do it, but I'm not very good at it. The directions were sometimes confusing. My boyfriend admitted they weren't the best instructions (and he is great at putting stuff together). IKEA does a better job with instructions.

That wasn't the biggest problem. The problem was in the manufacturing. The pieces were supposed to fit together but didn't. We had to file an edge down because it was too big but then another side was too short. (And yes, we checked if they were backward - they weren't.) Then the hardware didn't always fit with the holes they pre-drilled. Certain pieces were missing (screws were too short for one part). Also, once you got to a certain point with the screws they wouldn't go further - they would just start stripping. And if you put it together in the correct order, you will have to go back to adjust the pieces so it all fits properly. We had to go to the hardware store to finish putting this together. That was really frustrating.

I gave this item a 3 because now that it's together it doesn't look horrible. As far as filing cabinets go, this is better looking than metal. Also, it shipped quickly from the seller. I suppose I was just expecting better for $200+.
